IdeasDK is a non-commercial hobby community site for app ideas in Denmark. There are no ads, no affiliate links and no tracking across other sites. This page explains what personal data we handle and why, in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, and if you sign in with Google, the name and profile picture Google shares with us.
- Your activity: the votes you cast and any ideas you submit.
- A session cookie: set when you sign in, so the site knows you are signed in. It is strictly necessary, which is why there is no cookie banner. We use no other cookies. Your light/dark theme choice is stored only in your own browser.
- Anonymous usage statistics: Vercel Web Analytics counts page views and Vercel Speed Insights measures page performance. Both are cookieless and store nothing on your device; there is no cross-site tracking, and visitors are only counted through a hash that rotates daily, so we see aggregated numbers, never you.
You can browse ideas without an account; apart from the anonymous, aggregated statistics above, we collect nothing about you then.
Why, and our legal basis
We use this data only to run your account, let you sign in, vote and submit ideas. The legal basis is that it is necessary to provide the service you asked for (GDPR article 6(1)(b)). We never sell your data or use it for marketing.
The anonymous usage statistics rely on our legitimate interest in understanding which pages are used and keeping the site fast (GDPR article 6(1)(f)). They involve no cookies and cannot identify you.
Who processes it for us
- Vercel hosts the website and provides the anonymous Web Analytics and Speed Insights.
- Neon hosts the database (Postgres, EU region).
- Resend sends sign-in emails.
- Google handles sign-in if you choose “Sign in with Google”.
Some of these providers are based in the US. Where data leaves the EU/EEA, transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the EU standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Account details, votes and ideas: until you delete your account.
- Sign-in sessions: up to 30 days, or until you sign out.
- Sign-in email links: expire shortly after they are sent.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- see the data we hold about you (access) and get a copy of it;
- have incorrect data corrected;
- have your data deleted;
- object to or restrict how we use it;
- complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency, Datatilsynet.
To use any of these rights, email us at privacy@ideasdk.dev.
Deleting your account
A self-service delete my account option is coming soon. It will remove your account together with your votes and sessions. Until then, email us and we will delete it for you.
Changes
If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
